This February marks the 54th year since the assassination of Black nationalist leader Malcolm X. Malcolm X spent the early part of his life in Lansing, Michigan, but an important part of his adult life was right in Detroit, Michigan.

Learn about his early life in Lansing, and his career as a minister in the Nation of Islam in Detroit and Inkster, and then his leadership after leaving the Nation of Islam and his continued impact in Detroit.

Malcolm X was changed by his life in Michigan, especially in Lansing and Detroit.

And Detroit was changed by the life and legacy of Malcolm X.

Lecturer: Jamon Jordan, president of the Detroit chapter of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, and historian for Black Scroll Network History & Tours.
