Event description

Description

You have bunches of braids in beautiful colors. How are you going to spin the colorful yarn you want and not end up with Mud? After this class, you will be able to analyze your braid and plan your finished yarn from pre-drafting to singles to plying. Discover how to prepare, spin and dye your braids to place the colors in stripes, ombres, gradients, fractals, barber poles and combo/blends and how each of these methods effects the final colors.

Allison Harding (aka Fleebers) still remembers the pattern for her first knitting project at age 7: an orange acrylic scarf! It took over a year to finish but began a lifetime love of all things fiber. She is an award winning fiber artist who knits, crochets, weaves, felts, dyes, cards, spins, sews, and more. If it's fiber related, she's either tried it or it's on her bucket list.

While working as a costume designer for Studio East School for Performing Arts, Allison fell in love with teaching. Allison shares those skills and love of design in her knit and crochet patterns published by KnitPicks, Cascade Yarns, Skacel, Knit Circus and Loose Threads Magazine and the book "Simple Hip Knit Scarves".

Materials Fee: $25.00

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALLISON IS GIVING TWO WORKSHOPS IN PORT GAMBLE THE FIRST WEEKEND IN MARCH. THE OTHER WORKSHOP IS CALLED "DYE YOUR OWN YARN" AND IS ON MARCH 2, 2019
