Event description

Description

You probably know about the historic neighborhoods of Black Bottom & Paradise Valley. You may even know that they were destroyed by federal and local government urban renewal and freeway construction policies of the 1940s and 1950s.

However, Black businesses and residential areas continued to thrive outside of those historic neighborhoods from the 1920s to the 1970s.

Join historian and Tour Leader Jamon Jordan on a BUS TOUR through the near east side historic neighborhoods that are connected to or sprung out of Black Bottom and Paradise Valley - Brush Park, Sugar Hill, the Cultural Center and the North End.

We will visit the sites of historic homes, clubs, organizations, churches, businesses, businessmen and women, and significant events in Detroit's Black History.
