About the Talk

Join us for this inspiring public talk from visiting Buddhist Teacher Gen Kelsang Rigpa at Kane Hall on the University of Washington campus.

The anger and frustration that arise during conflicts often disguises itself as a powerful force that will help us "win our battles." However, this state of mind only makes conflict and difficulty more complicated and overwhelming. It leaves a trail of broken relationships, shattered hopes and lost opportunities in its wake. Buddha taught that if we want to be truly happy, we need to free ourself from the destructive influence of anger. During this special evening event Gen Kelsang Rigpa, the Western US National Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition, will share effective Buddhist methods to transform the energy of anger into a creative response that enables us to step into a new identity – someone who is peaceful, confident, wise and kind, regardless of external circumstances.

About the Teacher

Gen Rigpa is the Western US Spiritual Director for the New Kadampa Tradition, and Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center Hollywood and Dharmachakra Buddhist Center in Palm Springs. Gen Rigpa is an American Buddhist monk and close disciple of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, founder of the NKT-IKBU. His heartfelt and practical teachings are presented with warmth and humor, making them accessible to everyone.
