Becoming a successful entrepreneur isn’t an easy feat – especially in the life science industry. It takes dedication, time and ultimately perseverance to forge into the unknown and disrupt the healthcare industry. JLABS @ Toronto is providing a platform for life science entrepreneurs to discuss their successes, failures, and advice for budding entrepreneurs.

On November 22nd, Paul Thompson, will share the journey from scientist to successful company founder, consultant and Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board. Paul will explain his personal journey including hurdles he has overcome and important skills acquired to be a life science entrepreneur.

The insights and advice shared will be truly inspiring and can help propel your journey as an entrepreneur forward.

Speaker Biography:
Paul Thompson, PhD | Principal Investigator, Professor and Director of Chemical Biology, UMASS Medical School
Dr. Paul Thompson received his BSc and PhD degrees from McMaster University in Canada before moving to the US to take a postdoctoral position with Philip Cole at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Paul then moved to the University of South Carolina to begin his independent career before moving to the Department of Chemistry at The Scripps Research Institute, Scripps Florida, in May 2010. Paul subsequently moved to UMASS Med in Aug 2014. Paul was founder, consultant and Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board for Padlock Therapeutics. Paul has published more than 125 articles in major scientific journals including Nature, Cell, Nature Structural and Molecular Biology, and the Journal of the American Chemical Society. Paul has also won a number of awards including a Canadian Institutes of Health Research Postdoctoral Fellowship and a Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award.
