Beth Sanden - Challenged Athlete
"What do you do when your life completely changes in 60 seconds?"

Beth Sanden is a wife, mother, USA Triathlon Coach, USA Track & Field Coach, Guinness World Record Holder and an incomplete Paraplegic.

Since a bicycle accident in 2002 left her a paraplegic, Beth was told "she would never walk again." But through grit and determination, she rehabilitated one leg and walks with a cane and leg brace. Astoundingly, since her accident she has raced 69 Marathons and 72 Triathlons.

She has already traveled nearly 107,000 miles to enter and finish the seven marathons on seven continents, often as the only, or one of few, disabled challengers.

Overcoming all obstacles, Beth has participated in these events: The Great Wall of China Marathon, the Antarctic Marathon, the Kilimanjaro Marathon, and the Boston, Rome, Lima, Australia/Tasmania Ross, and Pho Quoc International of Vietnam Marathons.

Her story is an inspiration about overcoming unimaginable odds. By conquering the North Pole Marathon with one paralyzed leg, she'll send a message to the world: "Disabled doesn't mean 'benched,' and each of us can overcome our own discouragements to achieve our dreams."
