ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ever since she learned to drive, Beth Bombara has been chasing a dream down highways to share music with audiences all over. After playing guitar and keys in various other bands, encouragement from peers led her to start writing and performing her own music. “I never set out to be a lead singer,” she admits. “I wasn’t comfortable being in the spotlight like that. I struggled with anxiety, and talking into a microphone just froze me up.” But the songs were there, and who better to sing them than the person who imagined them? So Bombara confronted her fear and started performing her own material, slowly watering small seeds that would grow into something she never imagined. “Writing a song is one thing, but performing it in front of an audience is completely different.” After self-releasing her first album, she was invited to perform in front of 10,000 people at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. “I figured if I can do that, what is there to be afraid of?”
Her songs live in the same world as greats like Petty and Dylan; Gillian and Joni, and grow up like trees drawing nourishment from their roots music. But she never, ever sounds like the "typical" artist who claims these influences; Bombara to zig where someone else might zag making harder or gentler turns, brushing up against jazz or taking rock toward its fulfillment.
Bombara’s work has garnered high praise from L.A. Weekly, American Songwriter Magazine, No Depression, NPR stations, BBC Radio and more. She is working on a new album to be released late summer 2023 on Black Mesa Records
