Training Description:

This session will provide participants with best practices in assessment and intervention for individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Clinical features of ASD, differential diagnosis of ASD from other similar disorders and disparities in diagnosis will be discussed. Participants will also learn how to select evidence-based practices for intervention which are based on individual student profiles.

Training Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the key features of ASD.
  • Discuss racial, ethnic and socioeconomic disparities in diagnostic ascertainment and assessment.
  • Discuss common diagnostic differentials and overlapping symptomatology between ASD and related disorders.
  • Identify appropriate treatment and intervention strategies based on individual profiles.
  • Discuss evidence-based practices for treatment and intervention.
