Event description

Description

Dear Partners,

We began exploring this topic at a recent convening of the Partnerships for Social and Emotional Learning Initiative participants. This workshop will be a deep dive on the topic, facilitated by the BEST Initiative, experts in youth development and youth worker training. We know that intregrating meaningful opportunities for reflection into programming is an area for growth in our network, and we hope you'll join us for this informative session!

Teaching Reflection: How We Support Students to Integrate Learning

Objectives:
Participants will be able to:

1. Review youth and adult learning theory behind reflection
2. Explore strategies for integrating opportunities for reflection into your program
3. Identify 3 activities that promote reflection as a part of social and emotional learning

In this workshop we will begin by reviewing some of the youth and adult learning theories that support the importance of using reflection as a tool and a social and emotional learning strategy. Then we will explore activities that promote different types of reflection, including verbal, written and kinesthetic. Finally, participants will have an opportunity to assess and plan how to integrate reflection activities into their schedules and programs.

These opportunities are made possible by the Partnerships for Social and Emotional Learning Initiative.
