Event description

Description

Attend this FREE workshop by Oʻahu RC&D to learn about the best techniques and varieties to maximize production and minimize the effects of pests and disease. Participants will learn hands-on techniques from Gabe Sachter-Smith, banana specialist and owner of the Hawaii Banana Source. The event is open to the public; the information presented will be tailored to the needs of local farmers and will be relevant to backyard growers.

The event will include a hands-on planting and demo of propagation techniques to create your own health planting stock, in addition to a presentation in doors. Participants in the hands-on planting will take home a free keiki banana plant from the Hawaii Banana Source.

O'ahu RC&D staff will share information on newly available mini-grants to support farm sustainability in the north Ko'olaupoko region (limited to the ahupuaa of Kahalu'u, Waihe'e, Ka'alaea, Waiahole, and Waikane).

Space is limited. Please register to save your seat.

Light refreshments will be provided.
