About this event

While loss and bereavement, in particular, is not new to us, the pandemic has brought everyone face-to-face with massive loss both as individuals and as a community. Youth Communication has partnered with the New York Life Foundation to provide workshops, resources, and a toolkit for helping us process this grief. In these sessions, we will cover topics related to grief and bereavement–the complexities inherent in both, their relationship to social and emotional learning, and the cultural connections that affect them. In addition to identifying the importance that support from a caring adult has on a child’s grieving process, this series is designed to gain an understanding of what middle school afterschool programs can do and need to best support grieving students and staff.

Please note this event is a series of THREE sessions, participants must attend all THREE sessions:

May 24, 11AM-1PM

May 31, 11AM-1PM

June 7, 11AM-1PM

Lunch will be provided for all participants. Spaces are limited.
