Bento Lunch Box Workshop 

The Baltimore-Kawasaki Sister City Committee (BKSCC) is a founding member of Non-profit organization, Baltimore Sister Cities, Inc. BKSCC was established in 1979 by Mayor Donald Schaefer when he cemented a sister city relationship between the port city of Kawasaki, Japan and the port city of Baltimore. BKSCC has been productive in a variety of city-to-city cultural programs that support the ongoing relationship between these two major cities. In addition, BKSCC strives to offer elements of Japanese culture in a wide range of events to Baltimore residents.

Come learn how to make simple Japanese picnic foods for a bento box lunch for Hanami. We will be showing how to make chicken kara-age (chicken nuggets Japanese style), onigiri rice balls with umeboshi sour plum, pickles, and cooked shiitake mushrooms. And then stay for a simple lunch. You will be well trained to prepare your picnic lunch for the Hanami celebration happening in Middle Branch Park on April 14th . Please register on EventBrite if you plan to come to the picnic on the 14th.  Free
