Hank Cramer, a national-touring folksinger from the Pacific Northwest, will present a benefit concert at the Black Forest Community Club on Friday evening, September 21. All proceeds will go to Black Forest Together, the non-profit organization which is leading local efforts to recover from the devastating fire of 2013. Black Forest Together (BFT) will provide an update on fire recovery during the intermission. Music CD’s, BFT tee shirts, and fire recovery brochures will be available at the show. Black Forest Community Club is located at 12530 Black Forest Road, at the intersection with Shoup Road.

Hank Cramer is a well-known acoustic performer, with 21 CD’s and several movie soundtracks under his belt. He has won a number of professional accolades, including recipient of the 2011 Humanities Washington Award and placing in the “top ten” surveys of Texas Public Radio, Heartland Public Radio, and Northwest Public Radio. Hank’s style of folk music includes a broad repertoire of “sing-along” ballads, a strong baritone voice, and a wry sense of humor. Audiences are encouraged to sing along – so warm up your voice! Hank will be joined for part of the show by his son Hank Cramer IV, an up-and-coming songwriter from Lakewood.

Although Hank resides in the Pacific Northwest, he has strong connections to Colorado. He formed a band while stationed at Fort Carson over thirty years ago, and played his first gig at Black Forest Community Club for a Halloween dance in 1980. Hank recorded his first album in Colorado Springs in 1982. Since then, he has performed regularly for venues throughout the Front Range, including Black Rose Acoustic Society; Canon Rose Acoustic Society in Canon City; Jack Quinn’s Irish Pub in Colorado Springs; and the Gold Bar Room in Cripple Creek. Hank is also very involved in disaster relief, working as an on-call recovery manager for Washington State Emergency Management. In 2014 he led the early recovery efforts for the Carlton Fire Complex, the worst wildfire in Washington state’s history. While doing so, he drew advice and “lessons learned” from the leaders of Black Forest Together.
