MEET THE HONOREES
Carol and Terry Winograd are receiving the Tzedek Award for their demonstrated and deep commitment to social justice. Their lives and work embody core Jewish values. Their financial and personal support, mentorship, and dedication to progressive ideals inspire others to become leaders following in their footsteps. Their work nurtures sacred partnerships and advances equity, enhancing the fulfillment of a meaningful Jewish presence in America. This award will be presented by Ruth Messinger, Social Justice Consultant and Global Ambassador, American Jewish World Service.
We are proud to honor Oakland Rising with the Collective Liberation Award for their outstanding investment in the progressive movement space and their dedication to working with Bend the Arc towards our shared value of collective liberation. Since 2012 Bend the Arc has been a collaborative partner to Oakland’s progressive political, electoral, and movement building work.
The Bay Area Racial Justice Team will receive the Transformational Leadership Award for their community advocacy for racial justice. They are an intentionally multi-racial team working to eradicate racism within the Jewish community and center, amplify the voices of, and build a community for Jews of Color. The team facilitates a monthly Jewish space for anti-racism geared towards the white Jewish community, offering our community the support and skills they need to have difficult conversations about race and feel prepared to intervene when they witness racism. The team also self-organizes Jews of Color events, including a monthly JOC Shabbat, created for and by Jews of Color to build community within the Bay Area.
