About the host:

Saki is ultra runner and currently training for her summer Mountain Leader (ML) qualification. As part of the training she is looking to lead groups up hills. You'll get a chance to run with other runners to exchange tips socialised and it’s a guided run, what’s not to like! This is a free guided run by trainee ML but tips/donation at the end of the run will be very much appreciated!

Introduction:

Ben Vrackie is indelibly associated with the town of Pitlochry at its foot, and has for long been an extremely popular ascent for those visiting the town. The summit is a great viewpoint and the ascent follows good paths through woodland, open moorland and past picturesque Loch a' Choire.

Route:

Distance: 6 miles, 10.25 km

Total ascent: 2582feet, 787 meters

Time Approx.: 2 to 3 hours

Start and finish: We will meet at Ben Vrackie car park off lane just north west of Moulin . Open start point in Google Maps for directions.


Suitability.

This trail run is open to complete beginners or novice trail runners but know you are fit enough to complete the whole route without a problem. We will run AS A GROUP at an EASY pace and wait for everyone so no one is left behind. Please ensure you come equipped properly to cope with the unpredictable Scottish mountain weather - warm, waterproof clothing, extra layers, gloves, hats, food and water.

This run has been graded easy to moderate for beginner of trail running. You are responsible for deciding if this run is suitable for you, coming adequately prepared and fit and looking after yourself on the run. If we think the run is not suitable for you or you do not seem to have the right equipment, we reserve the right to refuse to let you join, for yours and the group's safety and comfort. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch.

Terrain will be mixed: Rock, grass, muddy trails. Trail trainers with good grip is recommended.


Clothing & Equipment.

You must ensure that you come adequately prepared for this run. Suggested gear list can be found below . It is always good practice to have a map with a note of the route description and a compass.


  • warm, waterproof clothing

  • extra layers

  • gloves

  • hats

  • food and water

  • bumbag or hydration bag

  • change of clothes and shoes for after the run (trainers will likely get muddy and wet)

After our run let's enjoy a well-deserved coffee or tea at Moulin Inn | Moulin Hotel
