Celebrate Ben Franklin's 311th birthday at this one-man show written and performed by Ray Flynt - January 12 - 15, 2017
Ben Franklin welcomes you to his Philadelphia home and shares stories of his life, from his early days in Boston to the man of history who "snatched lightning from the clouds and sceptres from the hands of tyrants." In this 90 minute show, amidst familiar aphorisms you'll hear the events that formed the arc of his life, and see the birth of American democracy through the eyes of one of its founding fathers. What is most remarkable is how many of Franklin's observations echo to our own time.
One reviewer wrote, "Flynt transforms himself into Franklin, cultivating a sense of intimate communion with this fascinating, multifaceted man." While another observed, "These days, it’s become quite fashionable to look upon famous people and to focus as much, if not more attention on their flaws as their achievements. In Ben Franklin: An Ingenious Life, we see a refreshing change; an educational, thoughtful, and often times humerous look at one of America’s most beloved figures."
You are welcome to stay following the performance for a talk back with the play's writer/performer.
