Ben DeSoto: For Art's Sake
30 min short documentary
Directed by Michael Witnes Zapata and Andrew Benavides

The story about a Houston photographer who worked as a photojournalist for the Houston Chronicle and the Houston Post for 30 years. The opportunities allowed him to capture and document diverse genres of the early Houston underground punk scene, major touring acts, rap/hip hop culture, and current events. Join Ben Tecumseh DeSoto as he reflects on his memories during shooting assignments, the lost art of developing film, the transition from manual to digital media, and the love For Art’s Sake.

A special thanks for project support from Rukaz Kultura, Houston Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs, The Houston Arts Alliance and Houston MOCA.
