Join us for Ben Burgis @ KCL + 'Confessions of a Class Reductionist' Launch!

This in-person event will take place in the Embankment Room (-1.4) in the Macadam Building - entrance on Surrey Street. Come and meet Ben Burgis as he discusses his latest book and shares insights on class reductionism along with a new talk on class, the left and new media.

Talk Title: Manufacturing Consent in Era of Fragmented Media

During the Cold War, major media promoted a worldview that posited the American Empire as a force for good and anti-capitalist radicalism as insidious and dangerous. Noam Chomsky's 'propaganda model' captured the basic dynamics in which this worldview was more effectively reinforced when lively debate was permitted within painfully narrow ideological limits. Today's landscape is vastly different. More people watch Joe Rogan and Theo Von than CNN and MSNBC. Within this new space, though, we have new forms of propaganda for the status quo that pose new challenges for the Left.

There will be an opportunity to get signed copies and to have a drink in the pub with Ben after the event.
