He will tell us about this end of life care delivery system that was designed to meet the needs of children and their loved ones.

Melissa Fournier, LMSW - “The Art of Mourning: Expressions of Youth” - This presentation outlines the use of expressive arts with bereaved children at Michael’s Place, a nonprofit grief support center in Traverse City. You will hear clips of stories told by grieving youth and will learn how storytelling, writing, drawing, painting, music, dance and drama are effective interventions.

Gwen Kapcia, LBSW - Starlight Ministries; Melissa Budzinski, LMSW - Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids; Julie De Jong, LMSW - Ele’s Place West Michigan– “Breaking It Down: Understanding Children’s Grief “- After a family experiences a death, as support people we often hear the question, “What do we tell the kids?” Children experience grief differently than adults.
