About this event

  • Event lasts 7 days 7 hours

When we think of how a union representative ought to behave we may think that conflict is part and parcel of how we act and do in our union capacities. That may be true to an extent but we also need to be confident and have clarity in putting our points across.

This course is designed to equip trade union representatives with the essential skills and strategies needed to effectively advocate for the rights and interests of their members while maintaining professionalism and respect in various workplace settings. Being assertive is a critical skill for trade union representatives as they navigate negotiations, discussions, and interactions with employers, management, and colleagues.

Throughout this course, participants will explore the concept of assertiveness and its importance in the context of trade union representation. They will learn practical techniques for assertive communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation.

Note:

For those living in a devolved Mayoral authority or devolved authority such as Manchester, Liverpool etc., we would suggest that you get in touch with us to check your eligibility for free funding.
