Event description

Workshop Descriptor:

Whether our leadership is based on a position we hold, or through the influence we have as a colleague, the success and wellbeing of our teams, our schools and ourselves as educators relies on two key understandings. Firstly, recognizing our personal strengths and abilities, allows us to be authentic and develop a leadership presence which is consistent and trustworthy. Secondly, building a toolkit of skills and approaches that support our agility to adapt and respond to different contexts means that we can engage others effectively in supporting change. We have to first ‘lead ourselves’ in order to lead others. This workshop will provide time and some useful frameworks from current research to allow participants to construct a personalized leadership profile and strategies for building teams, establishing goals and tackling challenges. In a practical and interactive manner, we will consider different ways to look at leadership, how to build positive and trusting teams, distributing leadership, prioritization and project management.

Participants will:

  • Understand their unique leadership profile and how it can support personal and team success.

  • Further develop a leadership ‘presence’ that is personal and effective.

  • Increase their awareness of the leadership actions that build high trust teams and develop team potential.

  • Understand how different leadership challenges require specific approaches.

  • Understand the different ways in which continuous improvement can be nurtured, nudged and provoked in teams, even in busy schools.

This workshop is suitable for anyone who wants to thrive as a formal or informal leader whilst having a positive impact on others e.g. teachers, middle leaders, administrators or anyone interested in leadership.
