Event description

Description

Explore the mansions and castles from an area on Long Island's northern shore (aka "Gold Coast") that inspired 'The Great Gatsby'.

Join New York Adventure Club for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes exploration around the historic Gould-Guggenheim Estate at Sands Point Preserve as we get rare access to historic castles and mansions around the 216-acre property.

Our special experience at Sands Point Preserve will include:

  • A private tour inside and around the Guggenheim Falaise, one of the few remaining historic houses on Long Island’s North Shore
  • An exclusive behind-the-scenes tour through public and secret areas of the 40-room Hempstead House, a 50,000-square-foot Tudor-style castle that served as a summer residence for the Guggenheim family from 1912-1930
  • Access to roam around the estate grounds, which includes Castle Gould, a private beach, and remnants of the abandoned indoor pool and casino.

*Your ticket includes a tour of the Falaise and Hempstead House — transportation to Sands Point Preserve, and $10 parking fee for those arriving by car, are not included.

**Due to limited food options at Sands Point Preserve, attendees are highly encouraged to bring their own lunch.

Transportation:

By Public Transit: Take the Port Washington-bound Long Island Rail Road train departing at 11:18am from Penn Station, and disembark at the Port Washington Station, which is the last stop. A NY Adventure Club Brand Ambassador will be waiting in front of the McDonald's next to the LIRR ticket window between 11am - 11:10am if you want to travel together.

LIRR tickets can now be purchased via your smartphone — click here for more details.

Once in Port Washington, take a cab to Sands Point Preserve, which is roughly 10 minutes from the train station. If you are traveling with the NY Adventure Club Brand Ambassador, please bring small bills.

Trains from Port Washington Station depart for Penn Station at the following times: 4:42 and 5:11pm.

By Car: Parking is located directly in front of Castle Gould once you pay the $10 parking fee at the gate house to Sands Point Preserve.
