Event description

Description

Looking to cross "visit a crypt and cemetery" off your October bucket list? Then you came to the right place.

Join New York Adventure Club for a behind-the-scenes tour of the historic Church of the Intercession (1915) and Trinity Church Cemetery (1843), located on the border of Harlem and Washington Heights.

Led by a church sexton, our unique experience will include:

  • A discussion around the history and story of the church & grounds
  • A walk through the Church of the Intercession including its cloisters, and main sanctuary where its architect Bertram Goodhue is buried
  • A special trip to the church's 2300 square foot underground crypt, which officially became the first columbarium built within a church in the United States
  • A visit to notable Trinity Church Cemetery grave sites including John James Audubon and Mayor Ed Koch

See you there!

*Access to the crypt will require descending several stairs
