Event Details

After a two-year hiatus from Behind the Cart, we are returning to our storytelling dinners with the fifth installment of BTC - and we're doing it on a boat! We have stumbled across a beautiful boat that is going to be the location of a dinner you will never forget. Join us as we have seven local foodies come together for one night only to share some of their favorite dishes and stories with you.

About Behind the Cart: 

Tired of the lines? Frustrated trying to track down a tweet? Hoping for a decadent food-cart style meal served in restaurant-style fashion? Have no fear, Behind the Cart is here!  

Behind the Cart is a spin on VH1's "Behind the Music." The goal is to host a mobile underground restaurant that serves a multiple course meal capped off with true-life tales of food-cart chefs. As a popular local food-cart vendor I realized early on that people are interested in the "story behind the cart." Folks want to know how the GrilledCheezGuy came to be, or what inspired the Creme Brulee cart to hit the streets. Behind The Cart provides foodies the opportunity to enjoy the Bay Area's best food-cart dishes and hear their chef's stories at the end of the dinner.

This BTC's theme is the ocean. When first moving here I got a job off Craiglist working on a local shark boat that took people out to the Farallones Islands. I was soon pulling crab pots with the crew and eating them out on the ocean. My passion for bay area seafood has introduced me to many other local ocean enthusiasts. From the talented Kirk Lombard teaching people how to catch monkeyface eels and fish out of storm drains; to Anna Larsen creating the first CSF (Consumer Supported Fishery), it has been amazing to meet all these wonderful people. I've hoped to bring them together to share good food and their stories. Come aboard our fabulous boat as we serve up food and stories all night with gorgeous views of the SF Bay.
