Beginning Pysanky- Traditional Ukrainian Egg Design
with Lorraine Fedorchak, Pysanky Artist
Saturday, April 13
TIME: 1:00-4:30pm
FOR AGES: Teen-Adult
REGISTRATION FEE: $40 if registered by March 30 ($50 after March 30)
Learn the basics of this classic Ukrainian Folk Art! Instructor Lorraine Fedorchak shares her family heritage and love for this distinct style of art as she gives a brief history of Pysanky Design, demonstrates techniques, and guides students in using traditional tools and materials including a “Kisky” (hot wax pen), beeswax, dyes, and more. Students will create their own egg designs as they develop an appreciation for this beloved cultural tradition. Watch for advanced versions of this workshop, to develop a variety of techniques based on regional distinctions.
Registration fee includes TRADITIONAL TOOLS AND MATERIALS, with a stylus, known as a pysachok, pysak, pysal'tse, or kystka (kistka), depending on region where tool is used.
