Beginning MIG Welding w/ Jim
Tuesday, March 19, 2013 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM (EDT)
ATTENTION: This class is now being taught by Jim.
MIG welding is the handy hot glue do-all kind of welding. It's the, easiest and most common form of welding, the type most likely found in most art and welding shops in the US. All sorts of people have come through Madagascar Institute knowing nothing about a shop and have become capable metal workers; get your start here. This 3-hour introductory welding class focuses on the hands-on experience of welding.
Original Artstar Ryan OConnor will teach you the very basics of MIG welding and familiarize you with the tools you’ll need to finish a project. In this class you will learn a little of the theory and tech behind it, but mostly you will get a feel for the manual skill of welding.
Please dress for the weather. If it's cold outside, it's cold inside. And remember this is a filthy, working shop. You will get dirty. Wear long pants, long sleeves and closed toed shoes. You don't need to bring anything--we have welding gloves you can borrow. But it's nice to have your own shop gloves.
The class is $50 with a $10 materials fee.
