Beginner Sketchnotes: Using Metaphors to Explain Big Ideas
Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM (PST)
San Francisco, CA
One of PARISOMA's most popular teachers, Alexis Finch, is visiting from New York to teach another round of her Sketchnotes class.
Sketchnotes are a form of visual thinking, where note-takers use drawings, lettering styles, and color to organize complex ideas into accessible stories.
This class is meant for beginners, so no background in art, design, or anything else like that, is needed. Just bring your curiosity! Built on simple shapes and lettering techniques, sketchnotes aren't meant to be draughtsman's quality images. They're meant to help you think and remember, and every sketchnoter's style is different.
The class starts off with a short lecture to get you inspired with some sketchnoter's styles, and some background on why sketchnotes work to boost memory and creative thinking. Next is a dive through a series of exercises to get your doodling skills limbered up! From there it's straight into full-on workshop mode so you walk out the door at the end of the class with a couple of sketchnotes under your belt.
SF's very own 99% Invisible podcast will be our listening material for the evening.
