Beginner Piano Class for ages 7 - 12 (Spring 2017)
Fri, March 24, 2017, 4:15 PM – 5:15 PM EDT
Be sure to come to our Free Introductory Class on March 10th!
* Beginner Piano/Keyboard Class for children ages 7 - 12 *
Eight 1-hour classes on Fridays at 4:15pm beginning on March 24 and ending on May 12. Additional classes may be offered to finish the book.
Instructor: Andrey Lubimtsev
This is hands-on learning from the start as everyone has their own keyboard to use in class. The cost of the book (Bastien Piano Method) is included in the price, so all students will get their own copy to take home. By the end of the 8-week session, participants will have a basic understanding of the keyboard and basic music theory. Young students will be able to play simple melodies one hand at a time; older children will be able to play a simple melody with basic accompaniment.
Some of the topics covered include:
· Music Theory
· Hand Position
Group classes for beginners offer a number of advantages over starting with private lessons. Besides the cost savings, the group environment offers more time to learn with an instructor. Playing along with others is also a benefit to learning, and it’s more fun! Plus, these classes have been organized as a fundraiser for the new nonprofit music school, the Keystone Musical Arts Center, so you can feel extra good about learning how to play piano!
100% of the proceeds will benefit the Keystone Musical Arts Center!
What and where is The Game Table Cafe?
The Game Table Cafe is your one stop shop for board games, tabletop games, card games and coffee located on the Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg, PA. It's in the Hampden Center shopping plaza where the Karns and Digiplex (Flagship) Cinemas are located, in the same building as The UPS Store, Hampden Optical and Palumbo Pizza. There is plenty of parking.
This is a very cool new spot with a great concept. Our piano classes will be held in the area toward the back of the cafe. Sandwiches, soup and snacks are on the menu as well as some great coffee from a local roaster. Tons of board games are available and they will be glad to show you how to play any of them.
The Game Table Cafe is donating this space for our piano classes so that the maximum amount of the fees paid will go to benefit the new nonprofit music school. Check them out online and be sure to support these great folks! GameTableCafe.com
Do I need to have a piano at home?
You will need access to a piano or at least an inexpensive keyboard so that you can practice between classes. Keyboards will be provided during the classes, so the only thing you will need to bring with you each week is the book.
If you don't have access to a piano or keyboard but would still like to take the class, contact us to see what options might be available.
I'm interested but the time doesn't work for me, or I’m in a different age group.
Please let us know! We will have new classes starting after this one and the details for these will be determined in part by the interest shown ahead of time.
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
We'd love to hear from you! Direct emails to info@KeystoneMusicalArtsCenter.org or call us at 717-737-KMAC (5622).
