This two-day beginner glass blowing class offers a practical and engaging introduction to working with hot glass. Participants will become familiar with the tools and equipment used in the studio and build foundational skills through guided warm-up exercises. Day one includes hands-on projects like caterpillars and paperweights, along with a demonstration of how to create a cylinder. These activities introduce essential techniques such as tool positioning, heat control, and the “window of opportunity” for shaping glass.

On the second day, students build on what they have learned by creating bowls and bottles. Each process is broken down into clear steps, supported by demonstrations and instructor guidance. Techniques such as forming a starter bubble, using jacks in various positions, and shaping with centripetal force are explored in depth. Teamwork is emphasized during key moments like the punty transfer and lip shaping. Designed for beginners, this class provides a strong foundation in glassblowing and encourages further exploration of glass blowing.

Students must wear closed-toe shoes and be ready for active participation, safety glasses will be provided by the studio, and all students are expected to stay for the duration of both class days. Those who have participated in a Make-Your-Own experience are encouraged to sign up, but no experience is required!
