Straight from Okinawa for their very first mainland US concert, BEGIN takes the stage at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center on September 1st. This exclusive show is hosted by the Okinawa Association of America (OAA), which is celebrating its 110th Anniversary this year.

BEGIN has been serenading fans for nearly 30 years with their iconic melodies about their beloved island home infusing blues with traditional Okinawan music elements. Their songs convey love for their island prefecture, a deep respect for the land and nature with fond memories of their childhood. Their music prominently features the sanshin, an Okinawan three-stringed banjo.

BEGIN’s appeal stretches the globe from their home base in Okinawa, Japan to South America, Australia, Europe and North America. To date, they have released more than 35 singles, more than 30 albums and 8 DVDs. They released their latest album, “Potluck Songs” in December 2018.

OAA is pleased to share the beauty and spirit of Okinawa with BEGIN fans old and new. For more information on OAA’s SuperCentennial, please visit Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter @oaamensore.
