Event Details

This introductory workshop demonstrates the unique model of reading the Bible designed by Rev. Jacki Belile, a lesbian Baptist minister and spiritual life coach. The September 2012 session will be a re-launch of Rev. Belile's BTB program and will be followed by a Fall retreat and other ongoing study opportunities.

A tool originally designed for those struggling  with religiously-rooted homophobia, the CARE reading method will be of interest to anyone committed to studying scripture with both devotion and critical thinking.  LGBT Christians and their straight allies will both take away new tools for personal peace and social action.

Key principles include:

-- Recognition of our desires for holiness and faithfulness
-- A relational approach to living in the wisdom of Scripture's elders
-- Engagement with the contexts, stories and priorities of the "cloud of witnesses"
-- Partnership with the Holy Spirit in history's projects of liberation, diversity and equality

Registration cost of $35 includes program, materials and continental breakfast.

Due to Rev. Belile's travel schedule, registration for this event will close on 8/31/12.
