Event Details

Are you curious about Mount Auburn’s beehives? Join Jerry Mendenhall, Greenhouse Manager, at Mount Auburn’s greenhouse for a special behind-the-scenes look at urban beekeeping. Learn about honeybee biology, what it takes to start your own hive and prepare to get your fingers sticky as we extract honey from Mount Auburn’s beehives. As we walk a short distance to the apiary on this late summer afternoon you’ll also hear about what plants honeybees prefer to visit. Afterwards we’ll return to the organic cut-flower gardens at the greenhouse for honeyed refreshments and bluegrass music.

Funding for programs has been provided in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
