Description

A wild Beerthoven season approaches!

Here are the programs that your purchase of a Beerthoven 2019-2020 Season Pass will give you access to:

September 20th and 22nd: In Search of a Beer Mug

WARNING*: This program will contain sax and violins! This September, we'll clink glasses once again with invoke, featuring the world premiere of Niko Schroeder's "The Ballad of Young King Gambrinus," commemorating the European folk hero and unofficial patron saint of beer. In addition, we'll have refreshing new music presented by UT's Aldebaran Saxophone Quartet, including Niko Schroeder's work In Search of a Beer Mug and the premiere of Austin-based composer James Parker's work, Seven Streams, Seven Wonders.

*Like all our Beerthoven programs, this concert will be family-friendly.

November 22nd and 24th: Czechs Mix

One need look no further than your local kolache shop to know that Czech immigrants are a big part of our Texan culture. We'll be celebrating that with pianist Linda Angkasa, violinist Christabel Lin, and maybe a certain salty snack to go with your beer. Featuring music of Dvorak and Haydn's "Gypsy" Trio.

January 30th* and 31st, February 2nd: Take Me to Your Lieder

What do songs about Jupiter's moons, Craigslist ads, and crawfish have in common? They'll all be part of our third program of the season, including some truly out of this world music written about unusual and unexpected subjects. Featuring I Hate Music by Leonard Bernstein and the return of soprano Charissa Memrick (previously featured in last season's finale, "Caffeinated Composers"). *Thursday evening location TBA.

May 7th*, 8th, and 10th: Songs My Mother Taught Me

Treat your Mom to a beer (or glass of wine...) and a concert of music written for--and composed by--Moms like them! Featuring one of Austin's most popular beer-loving mezzo-sopranos, Liz Cass! *Thursday location TBA.

Concerts will all take place on Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 3:00 pm on the dates listed above. Friday and Sunday events throughout the year will be held at the Austin Saengerrunde. All Beerthoven Concert Series events include free beer, wine, and other refreshments and are family-friendly.

Season Passes are available only until September 22nd--the end of our first program of the season--so act fast!
