Beekeeping can be one of the most interesting and rewarding hobbies. This short course will teach you how to do it. In addition to producing your own delicious honey, your bees will help pollinate your garden and fruit trees thus resulting in better crops.
People with little or no experience in beekeeping will gain valuable information on how to be a successful beekeeper. Topics will include equipment you will need, management techniques, and other important tips for keeping bees healthy in our Eastern Idaho climate.
This class is designed to coach beginners who are planning to start their own hives this spring or simply teach others who want to discover the fascinating art of beekeeping.
Cost for the course is $68 per person and includes course materials, hand-outs, catalogs, refreshments, door prizes and a 166-page, full color edition of "First Lessons in Beekeeping." (A $98 per couple discount is available if you and your partner share materials.)
This short course will be taught by Ward Hicks who has kept bees for nearly 40 years and holds a Master Beekeeping certificate from the University of Montana. He also manages several hives in the Rexburg area.
