Event description

Description

According to the USDA, honeybee populations have decreased by more than 50% in the last 60 years and the loss has accelerated in the past year! If you want to help the fight against this alarming epidemic, join us for a class on beekeeping and learn how to produce honey in your own backyard!

Introduction to Bees and Beekeeping will focus on the principles of beekeeping including:

  • the history of beekeeping
  • honeybee biology
  • plant/pollinator relationships
  • essential equipment and requirements

By the end of this course, individuals will be able to start beekeeping as a hobby and be able to help experienced beekeepers in the management of hives.

Class will be taught by a Midwest Master beekeeper and will take place in the mansion library. Please park in the main parking lot.

All sales are final. Class is limited to 30 participants and includes a study guide.
