Event description

Description

Ole and Ingrid Hass of Beech Tree Puppets present "The Giant Turnip." This whimsical and humorous telling of this Ukrainian folk tale celebrates community and caring for the earth. After lovingly preparing and tending their garden, an old man and his wife grow a vegetable so large that they can’t pull it up by themselves. The story unfolds with singing and hand-crafted rod-puppets. Shadow puppets reveal what happens under the ground, including a jolly and helpful root gnome.

Part of the free Saturday Morning at the National program. Performances are at 9:30am and 11:00am.

Tickets may be reserved beginning the Friday, one week prior to the performance. There will be a limited amount of walk-up tickets will be available on-site on the day of the show. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the performance time to take a place in the “Stand-by line.” Program is best suited for children ages 4 to 10 years.
