Frequently asked questions

Does my child need to know a lot about bees already?

Not at all! If your child has a general interest in nature or pollinators they will love this camp.

What is the citizen science activity?

It's important to feel empowered to make positive change. By teaching kids citizen science, they’ll learn to identify pollinators, track of how many pollinators visit a specific plant during a specific time period, and see how their data can influence policies to help pollinators around the world.

Do they have to eat honey?

Absolutely not! While we want to create an exciting honey tasting experience trying multiple honeys and learning about different flavours, nothing in the camp is mandatory.

Will my child get stung?

Although we'll be observing bees in their natural habitat, we will not be interacting with them in a way where bees would be scared (this is when they would usually sting!). We can't control wild bees, but the chance of getting stung is incredibly low and the same risk as spending any time outside.
