About this event
We are thrilled to present this world premiere film of a musical adaptation of the 2021 Kids Reading Across Rhode Island book, Becoming Muhammad Ali by James Patterson and Kwame Alexander. Our 5th grade playwrights worked with local songwriters to adapt the book into a musical, starring some beloved local actors, dancers, and performers. For this project we partnered with the Rhode Island Center for the Book, and were supported by Rhode Island Council on the Humanities.
Directed by Tara Moses, Music Direction by Matthew Requintina, Filmographers Corinne Wahlberg and Stuart Window.
Film stars MAP's own Tristan Miller as Cassius Clay, alongside wonderful local artists: Shanel LaShay Smith, Jason Quinn, Ashley Soto, Pheoynx Williams, and Brien Lang, with choreography and fight sequences by Stephanie Turner from Turner Moving Company and Trent Lee of the Haus of Glitter.
Film will have Spanish subtitles.
