Description

Join us for an evening with Author and COCC Writing Instructor, Mike Lankford as he discusses what inspired him to write his latest book, Becoming Leonardo, a Da Vinci biography that made the Wall Street Journal’s Top 10 Nonfiction Book list of 2017. After reading roughly 50 different works on Da Vinci and still having more questions than he had answers, Lankford set out to take a fresh look at Da Vinci’s life all the while considering what society was really like during the Renaissance in Italy. Ultimately, Lankford wrote the book he wanted read.

Lankford will talk about how he was able to strip away centuries of historical varnish to reveal details about da Vinci, a man he describes as a “human being solving ordinary problems,” and will discuss what Modern America can learn from history.

Presented by The Nancy R. Chandler Visiting Scholar Program and sponsored by Brooks Resources Corporation, Associated Students of COCC and OSU-Cascades Student Fee Committee.
