For BUSINESS OWNERS:

Becoming Employee-Owned: Exploring Options for Small Businesses

Small businesses are as strong as their employees. Across the country businesses have been creating a competitive advantage by including their employees in the opportunity to own the business that they work for. This competitive advantage also allows founders and owners to create a succession plan and cash in on their life’s work while creating a plan to make sure that their legacy continues on. Employee-owned businesses have higher sales, higher employment rates, and make more money per employee. Learn how your company can join the ranks of high-performing companies. This training is for small business owners to learn the basics of employee-ownership.

Presentations by experts in the field, Democracy at Work Institute, the Rocky Mountain Employee Ownership Center and other members of the Workers to Owners collaborative, a national network of service providers with decades of experience helping businesses transition to employee ownership. Join us for a light breakfast, and afterwards for lunch with service providers, who are exploring this option for their clients.

Date: Monday, April 3

Time: 8:30-12:30 session; 12:30-1:30 lunch

Price: $75 for RMEOC members; $100 non members

For SERVICE PROVIDERS

Becoming Employee-Owned: How to Help Business Owners Explore Selling to their Employees

This session is for business developers, advisors, attorneys, accountants, investors, lenders and other service providers interested in introducing employee ownership options and supporting a business owner to assess the right fit. Across the country, small business owners are selling their businesses to their employees. As growing numbers face retirement, they also face the difficult reality of limited options for their businesses. Often there is no immediate buyer who would preserve their legacy and keep the business going. Selling to employees via a shared ownership structure such as a cooperative can be a win-win-win: owners can exit with a good return on their investment, the doors stay open and jobs stay put, and a whole new generation of business owners is created.

Presented by the Democracy at Work Institute and the Workers to Owners collaborative, a national network of service providers with decades of experience helping businesses transition to employee ownership. Join us beforehand for lunch with small business owners exploring conversion options.

Date: Monday, April 3

Time: 12:30pm lunch, 1:30-5pm session

Price: $75 for RMEOC members; $100 non members

Price for NCEO attendees: $75

All attendees are invited to a FREE happy hour from 5:30-7:30 at ModWorks, 110 16th St. #1400
