Event description

Description

Whether you've been writing your whole life or only dreaming of it, this workshop is for you. Let's get together and become better writers!

During our four hours together, we'll talk about the mechanics of writing, why audience matters, and begin to hone your style and voice. If you find yourself wishing you'd paid more attention in high school English, you're in luck--I'm a former English teacher who now writes for a living. I'll give you the stuff you really need without the sentence diagramming (*shudder*), and I'll help you write better emails, social media posts, text message rants, and essays.

If you want to work on the craft of writing, but don't know where to start--let me help you!

If you've been writing for a decade and feel stuck--come find some inspiration!

Or if you're a writing nerd who loves to talk about writing--I want you here, because you are my people.

We'll serve breakfast, unlimited coffee, and a light snack to tide you over until 1:00.
Bring your laptop, favorite notepad, or your typewriter (obviously, only the most dedicated writers cart around their typewriters), and let's learn together.

You'll leave the workshop full of ideas, new practices, inspiration, and learning.
I can't wait to become better writers together!

*There is an ONLINE workshop option for this event only. Selecting an online course ticket means you will be sent workshop lectures, notes, handouts, and resources via email to work through at your own schedule. It does not grant you access to the live, in-person event. There are limited spots available for online tickets. If you have questions, please ask before you buy. No refunds will be offered.

Mary Graham is a former high school English teacher with a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She knows the rules of writing (pronoun-antecedent agreement! attention grabbers! gerunds!), and she finds only some of them important. Mary has been writing on her website, trustychucks.com, for over a decade and has written for publications such as The Huffington Post, Your Tango, For Every Mom as well as print media. She's gone viral a few times and lived to tell about it. You can connect with Mary on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or email. She also really likes snail mail, faxes, and telegrams.
