Agile is built upon a foundation of cross-functional, self-organizing, and self-managing teams. Learn the meanings behind these terms, why they are absolutely essential to team success, and how you go about developing them. This class is designed to help foster and support fully accountable True Agile Teams from the ground up. In this class, you will learn how to guide your team through the fundamentals of forming, storming, and norming. You will leave with a clear path toward unprecedented job satisfaction and productivity for everyone on your team.

Learning Objectives:

As a students of Becoming a True Agile Team™, we want to...

  1. Examine the lifecycle of a team, so that we can understand where our team currently resides.
  2. Explore the differences between a workgroup and a team, so that we can understand which one we are currently and whether changes are necessary to become the other.
  3. Clarify our working agreements, so that our team can agree on the rules of engagement that bind us.
  4. Define our team’s core values, so that our team can shape and share our team’s culture.
  5. Explore our shaping stories, so that we can learn how the past has influenced our values, attitudes, standards, and beliefs.
  6. Examine our team members’ personalities, so that we can relate to one another more empathically and more strategically.
  7. Understand what it means to be a “T-shaped” individual, so that each team member can contribute best to the success of our team.
  8. Uncover our individual strengths, so that we can best utilize them to ensure our happiness and increase the overall productivity of the team.
  9. List the differences between introverts and extroverts, so that we can effectively harness the power of each.
  10. Compare and contrast generational values, so that our team can better understand how to relate to one another.
  11. Explore the common pitfalls of intra-team communication, so that our team can learn to avoid them.
  12. List the benefits of effective swarming, so that our team can accomplish more together and vastly improve the quality of our work.
  13. Understand Agile practices for hiring, so that we strengthen our team’s culture when we need to expand.
  14. Demonstrate Agile performance management, so that we can provide constructive feedback to our team members on an ongoing basis.
  15. Determine if and when it’s time to remove a team member, so that we can improve the productivity and morale of our team.
  16. Experience a team challenge, so that we can work effectively together.
