We believe that becoming your own best friend is the key to living your best life. If you’re like most of us, you’re your own worst critic. You talk to yourself in ways you’d never talk to your friends. You'll congratulate your colleagues for a job well done whilst beating yourself up with a barrage of criticism. At home you'll continue the admonishments about how you broke your diet, didn’t read that book, or failed to make any pension plans.
Whatever story you’ve been telling yourself, it’s time to re-examine the way in which you talk to yourself. If you want to have more fun and success in life, it’s time to start treating yourself the way you’d treat your best friend: with love and compassion.
This course shows you how. It will also transform the way you express yourself in the world. Instead of struggling to deal with unconscious demands about the way you ought to be, you become free to be as you are.
Times and Dates?
Become your own best friend (harnessing The Power of Self Esteem) is a 6 week course, taught in 3 hour sessions (6.30pm-9.30pm) on 6 consecutive Thursday evenings starting 23rd February and finishing on 30th March 2017. It carries 18 hours of CPD accreditation.
What do you mean by Self-Esteem?
Self esteem is our idea of our own basic worth, and it has its roots in our childhood. Early on, our sense of value is associated with the positive regard of others, or linked with our achievements. We may accomplish much in later life, yet feel dissatisfied because our self esteem still depends on our success or failure.
This course shows you how to identify this deeply-rooted system of beliefs, and develop a new awareness of who, and what, you really are.
The course is taught in a warm and supportive atmosphere. It is offered in a small group of 6-12 people, and its skills are practical and simple.
Who runs it?
The course is taught by Emma Pruen and Kate Edgley, who are More To Life Mentors. They are licensed to teach by the More To Life Foundation (http://moretolife.org.uk/)
Emma trained in the early 1990s and has been passionate about helping people reach their full potential since then. She is also a writer, and previously set up and ran 'Wave', a Sussex-based magazine featuring articles about personal growth, happiness and well-being.
Kate who grew up in Brighton and commutes to London to work at 'The Observer' by day has been teaching this course for the last 6 years. She is a loving and skilled facilitator and brings both her professional experience working in a high-stress job and her personal skills as a single parent to teenage children.
The course is currently the world’s largest programme for self esteem enhancement.
