Event description
Become America: Civic Sermons on Love, Responsibility, and Democracy by Eric Liu

About this Event

Co-Presented by Sasquatch Books, Town Hall Seattle, and Elliott Bay Book Company

Author Eric Liu envisions a civic revival in our nation, a country in which Americans are steeped in a sense of civic character and educated in the tools of civic power.

Become America collects 19 of Eric Liu's civic sermons—stirring explorations of current and timeless topics about democracy, liberty, equal justice, and civic life delivered at Civic Saturdays in Seattle and beyond.

Part political assembly, part art-filled community gathering, Civic Saturdays began in 2016—sparked from a growing community need to gather face-to-face and reflect on what it means to be an active citizen. For more than two years since, thousands of people like you have gathered in bookstores, churches, and community spaces, rekindling a spirit of love and hope in civic life and answering Eric’s call to rehumanize our politics.

Tonight, Eric will reflect back on these beginnings, drawing from his civic sermons and the many connections he’s made through his work with Citizen University. After a short talk and reading from Eric, there will be an audience Q&A and a book signing. Please join us!
