Ed.S., School Psychology and Master of Arts in Educational Psychology with the Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Psychology

The Surgeon General’s office has called for more school professionals to meet children’s mental health and academic needs. These valuable individuals provide consultation services to parents and school staff, crisis management services to schools and collaborate with institution-linked health services. Become part of the solution by becoming a school psychologist who helps students overcome academic and social difficulties by providing the understanding, insight and guidance they need to be successful.

The Benefits of a combined Ed.S. and MA degree at Brandman

The unique educational psychology program at Brandman University prepares you to serve as an effective school psychologist in public K-12 institutions and meets the requirements for a California State Pupil Personnel Services credential, authorizing professional practice in the field. Our instructors, many of whom are professionals currently practicing in the field, prepare students to develop the skills to collaborate, advocate for children and youth, collect and evaluate relevant data for educational planning and become influential leaders. Offered in a blended format at Brandman's Walnut Creek campus, the program provides the flexibility you need to fit course work into your busy schedule.

By getting a degree in educational psychology you will learn to understand and address learning and behavioral problems in the classroom, provide services that help children and youth with varied abilities, cultural backgrounds and economic standings to succeed academically, emotionally and socially. Curriculum covers legal mandates and regulations as they relate to special education, counseling interventions, leveraging assessments, behavioral plans using NASP guidelines and reporting communication strategies. In addition to academic requirements you will be eligible for graduation after having successfully completed program course work and fieldwork, passed the Praxis exam, and met with faculty for an exit interview.
