Event description

Description

As part of Nottinghamshire County Council's Age Friendly project you are invited to take part in a Dementia Friends Information Session. Striving to build Age friendly and Dementia friendly communities.

Following the launch of the 'Take a Seat' scheme which aims to encourage shoppers to feel confident that they won't be too far from a place to sit and catch their breath, the Dementia Friends information session is aimed at Staff who feel that having a greater understanding of Dementia will help them deliver better customer care. This session is also open to the public.

At this point it is worth clarifying what becoming a Dementia Friend means. It is not about befriending someone with Dementia. People that attend are asked to just take one small action, be that telling someone on social media they attended the course; wearing their pin they receive on the day; or being more patient in the community.

The session last approximately 45-60 minutes. You will be provided with information that will enable you to understand the 5 key messages the Alzheimer's Society would like everyone across the country to understand; and also to have a greater understanding of how dementia affects someone living with the disease. Simply, being a Dementia Friend is understanding a bit more about dementia, and the little ways you can help.

The session is has limited spaces. if you would like to attend the course but the spaces are filled or you are unavailable this time please contact the organiser as further sessions may be organised.
