Become a Butterfly with Yun-Mo Ahn
Event Information
Description
We are excited to announce that the McCarton Foundation is partnering with Yun-Mo Ahn and the Valerie Goodman Gallery to bring the Become a Butterfly project to North America for the very first time.
For the past two years children with autism from around the globe have shared the magic they see by participating in Korean artist Yun-Mo Ahn’s Become a Butterfly project. Yun-Mo is a world renowned artist with thousands of butterflies displayed throughout Europe and Asia. The Become a Butterfly exhibits highlight the positive impact of participation in the visual arts for children with autism and emphasize autism empowerment.
Yun-Mo has committed 10 years to seeing this project fulfilled around the world. We have the honor of launching this project in North America, and want to invite children with autism from the tri-state area to participate. The children will create their own artwork on the butterfly template we supply, and Yun-Mo will then take all of the art and create a large display which will be exhibited at the New York Port Authority, as well as other venues throughout the city.
Participation is open to all people with autism at no cost. To learn more about the Become a Butterfly project, or if you have questions about participation, please contact us at butterfly@mccarton.org or call 646-783-6104.
