What is BECAUSE?:
BECAUSE ("Bi+ Empowerment Conference: A Uniting, Supportive Experience") is the annual conference of the Bisexual Organizing Project (BOP), dedicated to building empowered bi, pan, fluid, queer, unlabeled (bi+), and allied communities. The conference was founded in 1992 by a handful of bi+ activists and has grown into the largest conference centered around non-monosexual identities in the United States.
BECAUSE strives to be welcoming and inclusive - embracing the many intersectionalities of the bi+ community and encouraging people of all backgrounds and experiences to join us for this eventful weekend full of networking, community building, education, and organizing to create a more welcoming, inclusive, and equitable LGBTQIA community.
FAQs
Why are there so many types of tickets?
BECAUSE strives to be economically just. This involves asking those who can to pay to keep the conference sustainable, and offering options so that those who can't afford a typical conference ticket type to still attend and have access to everything at the conference. Economic status does not determine the value of your voice and your attendence. You are the best judge of which ticket price is best for you.
Why do you ask me for a lot of information?
The survey questions are to help us determine how best to serve our community. In some cases, it's to make sure the conference is accessible to you, by making sure we meet needs for access and food. For some questions, it's to help us understand what you need and want from the conference. And in some cases, it's because knowing which communities we serve helps us get funding from organizations that match our values. In all cases, the questions are completely optional, and you can choose to answer all, some, or none of them.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
The Wellstone Center has free parking. If you're taking tranist, the MetroTransit 68 and 71 routes stop nearby.
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
email because@bisexualorganizingproject.org
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Nope! We'll just need the name you used to register.
