23rd to 27th April 2012
Unique event will expose and explore the art in creative processes.
GFSmith are curating a free five-day event in April, entitled Beauty in the Making, which will celebrate artistry in creative processes.
It is a sad truth that most people never see the skill and craft that happens behind the scenes in so many parts of the creative industry. There is real beauty to be found in the everyday processes that provide the creative community with the products and services they take for granted.
This event is designed to open people's eyes to that fact and celebrate 'the making' as an art form in its own right. Guests will be enlightened through live demonstrations, workshops, installations and talks by the artisans and exponents.
To broaden the scope of content, GFSmith has collaborated with key creative institutions, including It's Nice That, Monotype and the British Council’s Architecture, Design and Fashion department.
The event will be held in Victoria House Basement, a 22,000 sq.ft venue in Bloomsbury, where raw ceilings and exposed brick walls will provide an appropriately industrial backdrop.
