Beauty From Ash's Launch
Sat, November 5, 2016, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM AWST
Ashleya (10) won $1000 at the cricket for waving a Weet Bix sign! One of Ashleya’s jobs at home was to make natural lip balm for her family. So she has decided to use her prize money to start a natural lip balm business, using House of Honey beeswax and Spoonbill olive oil.
Ashleya is a gifted PEAC (Primary Extension And Challenge) student, who could read before she started school. She is in a book club with her bookworm friends, reads at least 50 books in the school holidays, is known to cross the road whilst reading a book, and often says, 'without books, I'd be dead!'
Ashleya heard about the 'Big Brother Mouse' charity in Laos, which teaches literacy and produces books for Laos children, sending teachers to inaccessible places by foot, or by elephant! There are books ready to be published that await sponsorship. She was shocked to hear that many Laos children had never even seen a book before!
Ashleya has decided to donate part proceeds of her lip balm sales toward her US$1000 goal to publish a book for the children of Laos. She is launching her lip balm business at the new House of Honey meadery in the Swan Valley, on November 5th 2016, to coincide with her 11th birthday. Ashleya doesn't want a birthday party, she just wants people to BEE at her launch so she can help the children of Laos learn to read.
